LOOK Magazine Exhibit and Book, “Only in New York: Photographs from LOOK Magazine”

Ken Allen has worked on many books and catalogues for museums and photographers, but this is the first exhibition and book that started as a small room of binders filled with negatives. No one knew what the content was until we (Ken Allen) created low-resolution files, which allowed curators to look at the images for the first time. They then chose key images which were scanned at a high resolution. Over 200 images were retouched and printed. Several exhibits -- and this book -- were the result. (More information: New York Times).

The publication of the same title is published by the Museum of the City of New York and The Monacelli Press (October 2009) and written by Donald Albrecht, Curator of Architecture and Design, and Thomas Mellins, an independent curator. Copies are available for purchase in the Museum Shop.
